DIY Summer Soiree + Giveaway #30daysofplay

Summer can never be complete without a good party or two. Pinterest and Google are great for finding inspiration but for kids parties? Nothing. Ok well maybe not nothing, but the stuff they have is practically a replica of a adult Instagram party. Way too perfect and pretty for the kids. I might sound insane, but speaking from experience, you would want a party to be more versatile than pretty. But of course that doesn’t mean it can’t be pretty, you just need to change up the cliché Instagram version of parties. You can be messy but in a artful way. Stay tuned till the end for a GIVEAWAY!

Start the day off by decorating with the basics. Things you can tear away and dispose later for a easier cleanup. I decided on one decor center piece which was the IKEA icecream stand. It was super easy and light weight and affordable, this would really set your party apart from others.

A easy tip for making a snack table look more colourful is plastic table clothes. Their water proof and recycable!

Finger food and ice cubes are good snack choices for a hot backyard day. The adults can sit around the table and not worry about their kids dropping food or spilling drinks. As you can see, the waterproof cloth is a must have…

My choices for drinks were a DIY iced soft drink holder, lemon and lime ginger ale for the adults.

I found these chalkboard party hats at target (set of 10) for wait for it… $1.80 ! I nearly fainted when I saw the price. It was such a unbelievably rare steal that I had to share it with you. Its both a great photo prop, and a craft. (it comes with wooden sticks that can be used to scratch out the designs.

Let the kids express themselves with coloured pencils.                                               #easy

I found the best company for craft sets. Seedling is the name. And fun is their game. There was so much to choose from, but I decided on traditional wooden pencil crayons and a magic {paper} cherry blossom tree.
